CSTO: No request for military assistance from Russia over situation in Kursk Oblast

MOSCOW, 16 August (BelTA) – Russia has not requested military assistance from the CSTO over the situation in Kursk Oblast, the CSTO Secretariat said in a commentary to the media, BelTA has learned.

“Military assistance can only be provided in case of an official request from a member state,” the CSTO Secretariat said. “There has been no such request from Russia in connection with the situation in Kursk Oblast.”


“The spillover of the military conflict into the CSTO zone of responsibility marks a new stage of escalation. Our analytical service is working around the clock. We are closely following the situation and we will act according to the organization’s charter. The CSTO Secretariat and Russian state agencies exchange information in due course. In case of need, the CSTO Secretariat will implement all the appropriate measures in a timely manner,” the CSTO Secretariat said.
