MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – U.S. businessman and billionaire Elon Musk believes French President Emmanuel Macron needs to provide more information about the reasons behind the detention of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, TASS informs.
“It would be helpful to the global public to understand more details about why he [Durov] was arrested,” he commented under Macron’s post on X.
Earlier, Musk said that if Durov had committed such a serious crime and was therefore subject to arrest, the French prosecutor should explain what the case was about.
Pavel Durov was detained on 24 August at Le Bourget airport in Paris. The next day his detention was extended to 96 hours. Macron said the detention of the Telegram founder was not politically motivated and urged to wait for the verdict of the judges. France remains committed to freedom of expression and communication, to innovation and to the spirit of entrepreneurship, he said.
