Foreign currency sales exceed purchases by $218.9m in Belarus in August
MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) — In August 2024 individuals in Belarus sold $218.9 million worth of foreign currency more than they purchased, BelTA learned from the statistics released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).
In August individuals bought the equivalent of $949.7 million in cash and cashless forms and sold $1,168.6 million worth of foreign currency. In January-August foreign currency sales by individuals exceeded purchases by $879.9 million.
Purchases of foreign currency by Belarusian commercial entities exceeded foreign currency sales in August 2024. Based on the data of the National Bank, the commercial entities bought $166.3 million worth of currency more than they sold. In August 2024 Belarus’ legal entities bought a total of $2.788 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $2.622 billion.
In January-August foreign currency purchases by commercial entities exceeded sales by $1.548 million.
