Belarusian athletes join Day of People’s Unity bike ride
MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) — Representatives of the sports community of Belarus took part in a bike ride to mark the Day of People’s Unity and honor the memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.
Taking part in the ride were heads of the National Olympic Committee and the Sport and Tourism Ministry, outstanding Belarusian athletes, representatives of sports federations, members of national teams, and employees of sports institutions. Some 400 people took part in the event.
“I rejoice in everything related to cycling. Many prominent people rode their bicycles today. I think I saw representatives of all sports here,” many-time world champion, Olympic medalist Natallia Tsylinskaya said. “Of course, our ride is not the most important event on 17 September. The Day of People’s Unity really unites us. We must remember every minute that we are one nation. When we are together, we are afraid of nothing, we will overcome everything”.
The bike ride started from the Lebyazhy water park and finished near the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. The participants of the ride laid flowers at the Minsk Hero City Monument.
