Ahmadian conveys Khamenei’s, Pezeshkian’s best regards to Lukashenko
MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian conveyed best regards to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko from Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian as he met with the Belarusian head of state on 13 September, BelTA has learned.
First of all, the foreign guest thanked the president of Belarus for the opportunity to meet. He noted that a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations at various levels had taken place recently. The Belarusian head of state visited Iran in March 2023, and Iranian delegations also came to Belarus. Ali Akbar Ahmadian specifically recalled the meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei and the recommendations that were given to the Iranian leadership after this meeting.
“Let me convey the warmest regards from the spiritual leader of Iran and the president of Iran,” the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran continued. He thanked the Belarusian president for sending a delegation to the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian and for the condolences in connection with the tragic death of the previous head of state Ebrahim Raisi.
In turn, Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the Iranian guest to convey best regards from him: “While conveying my best regards and congratulations to the incumbent president, I would very much like you not to forget to convey my sincere greetings to the spiritual leader of Iran, Mr. Khamenei. We are old friends and have known each other for many, many years. Convey to him my warmest congratulations and wishes of good health.”
The Iranian guest told journalists after the meeting: “Iran and Belarus have always been friends, and our interaction is close to allied relations. During the talks, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the need to maintain and build on these relations. And we saw his serious intention to intensify contacts.”
He expressed confidence that Iran and Belarus will be able to significantly expand interaction in the future.
