Belarus CEC head talks about preparations for next year’s election campaign
GOMEL, 7 September (BelTA) – Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko talked to reporters about the progress of preparations for the presidential election due in 2025 before he met with representatives of Belarusian State University of Transport, BelTA has learned.
The completion of any election campaign triggers the start of preparations for the next election campaign, Igor Karpenko emphasized. “We actually analyze what happened, how it happened, how legislation was applied, whether changes, amendments to laws and regulations are necessary,” he explained.
The CEC head talked about the training of potential organizers of the election. “We’ve started systemically training [the potential organizers] via the Academy of Public Administration. We are about to begin local training in the regions. In particular, at premises of education development institutes, including in Gomel, we are opening the corresponding courses for those people, who may potentially work in various election commissions tomorrow and who may realize the election process in practice,” the official said.
“We are ready for the final stage of the political modernization, which will be the presidential election campaign. The country’s parliament will decide when this election will take place. Once the decision is made, the CEC will begin organizing all the processes, which need to proceed in accordance with the legislation,” Igor Karpenko summarized.
