Belarus’ sports minister meets with Head of Russia’s Yakutia

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk has met with Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolayev, BelTA learned from the press service of the Sports and Tourism Ministry.
The 8th edition of the Children of Asia International Sports Games will be held in the Republic of Sakha from 26 June to 6 July. The Belarusian team includes 144 young athletes under 16 years old who will compete in 12 sports: 3×3 basketball, boxing, volleyball, judo, athletics, table tennis, swimming, shooting, etc. The Belarusian team boasts winners and medalists of Belarus’ championships, record holders in their age groups.
“The Games are very important for us. That’s why we have brought such a big delegation. This is the first time we are taking part in the Children of Asia Summer Games. Children’s sports pave the way for future achievements in adult sports. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in such events together with friendly nations and regions. They have proved that they are capable of organizing such events at the highest level,” noted Sergei Kovalchuk.
The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation in physical education and sports, the development of joint tourist routes and programs, festivals and exhibitions celebrating the traditions and art of the republics.
