Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research hosts Zimbabwe’s delegation

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) held a meeting with a delegation from Zimbabwe led by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet of Zimbabwe Martin Rushwaya in Minsk on 24 September, BelTA has learned.

Director of BISR Oleg Makarov briefed the guests about the main areas of the institute’s activities. The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Belarusian-Zimbabwean relations.


The participants emphasized the importance of expert dialogue amid modern challenges and discussed the international agenda.

Martin Rushwaya called for closer cooperation between business communities of the two countries and better communication between research centers of Belarus and Zimbabwe. «We are here to learn. We learn from our partner countries, including Belarus. Later, when we need your help, we will be able to interact with the help of the embassy,» he said.

In turn, Oleg Makarov assured his foreign colleagues that the Belarusian think tank is ready to cooperate and can help in establishing analytical structures in Zimbabwe. «Considering the excellent relations between our states, we are open to dialogue,» the BISR director emphasized.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
