Belarusian MAZ to focus on third-generation buses
MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – What vehicles the new bus factory of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) will produce was revealed as Deputy Director General of OAO MAZ, managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ, Director for Economy Aleksandr Ignatyuk talked to reporters during a parade of retro vehicles and modern vehicles of the Belarusian automaker, BelTA has learned.
At present the main strategic goal for the holding company is to finish the construction of the new bus factory, which is supposed to become a jewel in the crown of Minsk Automobile Plant for the next few years. “We will finish the main work this year. We will commission the new manufacturing facility in late 2024 – early 2025,” Aleksandr Ignatyuk stressed.
The new bus factory will focus on third-generation buses such as MAZ-303. “We are going to transition from the second generation to the third one although we will make both kinds simultaneously for now. We will promote the third generation more actively,” he said.
The third generation of MAZ passenger vehicles allows using different kinds of fuel with the same technological platform. The buses can be powered by internal combustion engines, gas engines, and electric motors. “This is why we will be able to satisfy our rather demanding clients with any lineup of passenger vehicles,” Aleksandr Ignatyuk said.
