China’s premier completes official visit to Belarus
MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang has completed his official visit to Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.
During the visit, Li Qiang met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and held official negotiations with Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. The negotiations resulted in the signing a series of economic agreements.
Belarus and China signed an intergovernmental agreement on trade in services and investment, providing for a free trade zone in services between the two countries, a transparent, liberal and favorable regime for attracting investment. Belarus and China also gave a start to the year of cooperation between the two countries in science, technology and innovation and also launched the projects to set up five centers: traditional Chinese medicine, cooperation in geological sciences, the SCO member states technology transfer, and a branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in China. Five industrial projects worth about $1 billion were also launched. Twelve more industrial projects worth $2 billion are undergoing approval procedures.
The government noted that the media have already described this visit as truly historic. «Belarus and China will always remain reliable friends and partners,» the press service emphasized.
