Development Bank: Nicaragua offers great prospects for Belarus
MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) — Nicaragua is the heart of Latin America and offers great cooperation prospects for Belarus, Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of Belarus Sergei Stolyarchuk told the media on 19 July, BelTA has learned.
“Today is a truly historic day in trade and economic relations between Belarus and Nicaragua. The Development Bank will finance the supplies of more than 700 units of machinery worth $85 million. Negotiations are underway to conclude new contracts to supply farming and fire-fighting machinery. Prospects in the market are enormous. There is a possibility to re-export joint products to the markets of Latin American countries,” Sergei Stolyarchuk said.
In his words, Nicaragua is a dynamically developing country with a favorable economic and geographical position. “Nicaragua is sometimes called the heart of Latin America. The country is surrounded by oceans — the Pacific and the Atlantic. All this creates huge prerequisites for the implementation of ambitious projects. The reforms run by the country’s authorities in recent years are aimed at the realization of large infrastructure projects, including projects in agriculture,” the chairman of the Board of the Development Bank said.
Earlier, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko paid an official visit to Venezuela and Cuba. Work on cooperation with the faraway countries continues in Nicaragua. According to the Belarusian head of government, the main goal is to lay a solid foundation for cooperation with these countries.
