Indian ambassador explores prospects of cooperation with Vitebsk Oblast

VITEBSK, 15 August (BelTA) – India is interested in cooperation with Vitebsk Oblast in education, flax processing, meat industry, and dairy industry. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Alok Ranjan Jha made the statement as he visited Orsha District on 15 August, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat identified the purpose of the visit as getting to know the administration of the Orsha District Executive Committee and discussing matters of bilateral cooperation, in particular, cooperation in flax processing.
The ambassador described Belarus-India relations as very strong. The parties actively advance cooperation in shipments of potash fertilizers, pharmaceutical products, and agricultural machines.
As for relations with Belarus’ northern region, India is interested in advancing relations with Vitebsk State Medical Institute. There are a lot of Indian students at the university. The ambassador also mentioned interest in cooperation in flax processing, meat industry, and dairy industry. “We would like to increase trade turnover in this field,” Alok Ranjan Jha noted.
While in Orsha District the ambassador is expected to meet with top officials of the Orsha District Executive Committee, plant trees in a park located in Sovetskaya Street on the occasion of India Independence Day and in honor of the friendship between the two countries. The ambassador also intends to visit Orsha Linen Mill.
