Olympics 2024: Belarus’ Shymanovich through to 100m breaststroke semifinal
MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmer Ilya Shymanovich touched in second in Heat 4 to advance to the men’s 100m breaststroke semifinal at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, BelTA has learned.
The heat was won by many-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty of the UK. Ilya Shymanovich clocked 59.25 seconds, the third best time among 36 athletes. The semifinal will feature 16 athletes.
The semifinal will take place later on Saturday. The final featuring eight swimmers is scheduled for Sunday.
Alina Zmushka of Belarus will join competition in the women’s 100m breaststroke on Sunday. Anastasiya Shkurdai will begin her medal quest on 29 July.
