Russian PM calls for uniform customs transit system in EAEU

NESVIZH, 4 June (BelTA) – It is important we agree on an uniform customs transit system in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Nesvizh on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

«The priority is to further improve customs regulation in the EAEU. Late last year, we introduced amendments to the EAEU Customs Code, which significantly simplified both the purchase of goods on the internet platforms of the EAEU countries and their subsequent registration. Now we are faced with the task of agreeing on an international agreement on a single customs transit system so that other states can join the system that is up and running,» Mikhail Mishustin said.

In his opinion, this will facilitate the transportation of goods, make it possible to apply a common transit declaration, track goods using navigation seals, and also guarantee the payment of customs duties.

«In general, all projects implemented in the EAEU are aimed at approximating legislation and deepening integration. This meets the expectations of both entrepreneurs and also our citizens,» the Russian head of government said.
