Opinion: Era of global dominance is over

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) — Russian political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan explained how Britain will fight for global leadership and why no country will be able to dominate the world in the current geopolitical conditions as she talked to the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Karine Gevorgyan believes that Britain plans to return to the major political league, and therefore the turmoil in the United States is definitely beneficial for them. Moreover, they have been gradually working to realize their own scenario. This is not about Rishi Sunak’s government, the House of Lords and the old British elite. “I am talking about the other strata in the British Isles. These are other forces inside Britain,” Karine Gevorgyan noted. “They are pressing towards their goal. From my point of view, they are on the front foot now.”
According to Karine Gevorgyan, Britain plays extremely deft and beautiful games. “They have a certain set of tools,» she highlighted. “True to say they lack resources, but this is what makes them think out of the box and play out even more complex and sophisticated scenarios. But I think they overlook the fact that the era of dominance as we knew it for the last 200 years is over. Dominance requires huge resources. The Soviet Union and the United States are a case in point. National resources of any country are still not enough to keep the situation under control.»
“The world is small but it is too large for any center of power to dominate,» Karine Gevorgyan continued. “Moreover, Britain has its own top elite, and it needs at least two components to maintain power. Let’s call it this way: top-level executives and army and intelligence. Army and intelligence are men with guns, and are a breeding ground for counter-elites to overthrow the current elite. This is also inevitable.”
